BACKGROUND
More rights for travellers, more obligations for companies.
The implementation of the European Package Travel Directive and the Package Travel Act (Pauschalreisegesetz – PRG) in Austria as of July 1st 2018 has once again expanded existing consumer rights. The obligation to protect travellers against the insolvency risk of tour operators and intermediaries of related travel services is standardised in the Package Travel Ordinance of December 20th, 2018 (Pauschalreiseverordnung – PRV).
Insurance required by law
This obligation is covered by CUBE-TECH for all bookings via the SYSTEM4C booking platform together with TVA GmbH and eliminates future challenges for providers and customers, such as those that emerged as part of the Thomas Cook bankruptcy.
Automatic legal qualification
CUBE-TECH automatically categorizes booked travel elements as a package tour, combined travel services or the combination of individual services. The end customer can automatically receive the travel insurance certificate as part of the booking confirmation process. Business-related billing is also carried out by CUBE-TECH.
Unlimited risk coverage
The insurer guarantees unlimited risk coverage. This means that the restrictions according to PRV § 4 (4) no longer apply – guaranteed cover on pre-payments until the day of departure.
In the event of insufficient liability insurance by the package provider, CUBE-TECH further offers business-related liability insurance policies.
